Guwahati: Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday visited Sri Sri Borongajuli Srimanta Sankardev Satra at Udalguri and paid his rich tributes to the recently demised Satradhikar, eminent social reformer Harekrishna Mahanta.
Dr. Sarma paid tributes to the portrait and statue of late Harekrishna Mahanta and paid floral homage to the place where he was laid to rest. Dr. Samra also paid his visit to Satra Namghar and prayed for the welfare of all sections of the people.
Later talking to the media, Chief Minister Dr Sarma said that late Harekrishna Mahanta was a glittering star in the social and spiritual landscape of the state who worked tirelessly for the unity of all sections of the people based on the teachings of Srimanta Sankardev. He also said that the State government will take steps for the Satradhikar and his principle to remain relevant among the younger generation. Referring to his discussion with the satra management committee, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma said that the State government will take pragmatic steps to raise the importance of Borongajuli Satra along with its 33 sakha satra. He also said that the State government will also take steps for the satra along with its sakha satra to be protected and preserved.
Speaker Assam Legislative Assembly Biswajit Daimary, local representatives of BTC, in charge Satradhikar Niranjan Boro and host of other dignitaries were present during Chief Minister’s visit to the satra.
