Breaking the speculations over easing the lockdown in Assam, the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on March 31st, 2020, evening said that the government has not taken any such decision.
Appealing the people to restrain from stepping out from homes, the CM said, “The lockdown will continue till April 14th, 2020 barring the essential services.”
He also appealed the people to maintain social distancing to prevent the spread of the lethal coronavirus (COVID-19).
The state government on March 30th, 2020, announced the deputy commissioners of the districts will be able to decide whether to resume the operations of the tea gardens and factories from April 1st, 2020.
The cabinet meeting has decided to allow agriculture and farming activity with the necessary protection from April 1st, 2020 onwards. Trucks carrying essential items will be allowed to ply from April 1st, 2020 onwards.
