The Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on May 16th, 2019, directed concerned officials to conduct a survey of Deepor Beel and prepare a land classification report for conservation of the lake (beel).
Sonowal also urged the officials to study the inlet and outlet history of the lake through various scientific methods. He further directed the officials to set up a Sewage Treatment Plant at Pamohi in the city.
The CM shared a meeting at Janata Bhawan, Guwahati with the officials on various issues related to conservation of the lake.
Deepor Beel, the permanent freshwater lake, is one of Assam’s important biodiversity hotspots owing to its diverse flora and fauna.
