CM Sonowal takes stock of health condition of Tarun Gogoi

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday talked to Kaliabor MP Gaurav Gogoi and took stock of the health condition of the latter’s father and former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.

Sonowal also talked to the Principal of GMCH and enquired about the health of the former chief minister. He further asked the Principal to take all needful measures for better treatment of the former CM.

Earlier in the day, state’s health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma himself attended a video conferencing between a team of specialist doctors and AIIMS Director Randeep Guleria.

Informing the development, Sarma said that at 9.15 AM on Friday, he along with a team of specialist doctors from Assam held a video conferencing with Director AIIMS Randeep Guleria to seek his advice on treatment protocol and future course for Tarun Gogoi, who has been admitted at GMCH.

Sarma added that the ex-chief minister’s son and Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi was also present at the video conferencing.

According to the minister, a few additional tests were reportedly prescribed and a faculty from the AIIMS is likely to reach GMCH shortly to review the condition of Gogoi.

Gogoi had tested positive for COVID-19 on August 25 and was admitted to the GMCH the next day. Though recovered from COVID 19 infection, the veteran Congressman’s health deteriorated on Thursday and was shifted to GMCH ICU.

Earlier, the state health department had constituted a nine-member committee of doctors to monitor the health condition of the former chief minister.
