Completion of 100 days: Key decisions taken in today’s Assam Cabinet, Read all details

Guwahati: Coinciding with state government’s completion of 100 days, the weekly Cabinet on Friday made some significant decisions aimed at taking governance to grassroots, providing more relief to the poor, reforming the education sector as per National Education Policy (NEP) and joining the global campaign against carbon emission, etc.

Key decisions taken by the state cabinet are-

  1. One cabinet meeting to be held in district headquarters every month. First one at Dhemaji in September 2021
  2. Enhanced Orunodoi assistance, from Rs 830 to Rs 1000, to be effective from September 10
  3. The amount is being deposited in beneficiary accounts on 10th of every month
  4. Geography and History to be compulsory subjects in school curriculum
  5. To check carbon emission, Government to procure 200 electric and 100 CNG buses for Guwahati city
  6. Inter-district bus drivers and handymen to receive Rs 10,000. They have to apply online through a portal for the assistance
  7. Temple priests and naamghorias to get Rs 15,000
  8. Implementation of provisions of National Educational Policy (NEP) to start from April, 2022. All high schools to be upgraded to senior secondary school and junior colleges will have class IX and class X in them
