Cong Alleges Anomalies In Assam Govt’s Package For Poor, Seeks PM’s Intervention

BJP has deliberately excluded Congress workers from the beneficiary list: Ripun Bora

Dissatisfied over the announcement of the economic package by the Assam government, the state Congress on April 1st, 2020, sought the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention in the matter.

In a letter wrote to the PM seeking his intervention, state Congress president Ripun Bora alleged inhuman and partisan attitude of the state government in selecting beneficiaries for providing the economic packages amid the nation-wide lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“There is no way left than to seek your intervention in delivering justice to the poor needy people of the state and as a public representative. I am duty-bound to place the matter before you,” Bora said.

The state cabinet on March 30th, 2020, announced a certain significant decision including free distribution of rice, which were sold at Rs 1 per kgs earlier, to the ration cardholders, and one-time financial assistance of Rs 1000 to the poor people without ration card.

Bora alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government has ‘deliberately’ excluded Congress Party workers and sympathizers and the persons who do not belong to BJP.
