Congress cracks ‘Job Creation’ formula? Promises to make Ministry of Job
GUWAHATI: Assam Pradesh Congress claimed to have cracked a way out to provide at least one lakh government jobs every year in the state if the party comes to power. The party has recently given a guarantee to the people of the state to produce massive job opportunities to the youths of the state following its winning the state polls.
On Thursday, the party also launched its second leg of its campaign ‘ Congressor 5 Guarantee’. Under this campaign, the party initiated a website for online employment registration for the unemployed youth of Assam – www. congressor5guarantee.in.
General Secretary, AICC and Assam in charge, Jitendra Singh, said, “During the Asom Basaon Ahok Yatra, the party leadership got the opportunity to reach out to every nook and corner of the state and interact with the people. The one big issue that people from every constituency highlighted was unemployment! Youth voted because they were told they will get 25 lakh jobs and they only got bullets and the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Youth from all over Assam have told us how they were cheated by the party currently in power. “
The party elaborated on, how they will be generating 5 lakh Jobs in the public sector and 25 lakh Jobs in the private sector, during the course of their tenure.
APCC President Sri Ripun Bora said, “The Assam government currently has around 4 lakh 37 thousand employees. There are another 58,000 sanctioned posts that are vacant. Why has Sonowal not been filling up the vacant posts? They’re not creating new posts, and not even filling the posts falling vacant. With a similar population as Assam, Punjab and Haryana both have around 5.5 lakh government employees.”
Adding to him, Congress Legislature Party Leader, Sri Debabrata Saikia affirmed that the party has discussed the matter already with several economists and experts and came to the conclusion that it can create 25 lakh private-sector jobs in Assam in five years.
“We will reserve a part of government contracts for Assamese companies, and also have reservations for Assamese people in private-sector jobs created in Assam. That is how, apart from the five lakh jobs, we will create additional 25 lakh private-sector jobs in the state,” he added.
Congress said that after winning the election, the new government would create a new ministry, the Ministry of Job Creation. “It will be this minister’s job to get everyone a job. All those who register on this website, we shall give the list to the minister of job creation and ask him to make sure they get a job on a priority basis,” said the party leaders.
