Darrang, April 13, 2019
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on April 13th 2019 launched a scathing attack on Congress and said that the party has failed to give respect to the people of Assam. Sonowal also said that the Congress has become synonymous with corruption.
Sonowal campaigned at Dipila in Darrang district for Dilip Saikia, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the Mangaldai parliamentary seat. Addressing a public meeting here Sonowal started his speech with a song remembering Assam’s iconic singer ‘Sudhakantha’ Bhupen Hazarika.
“Despite over 70 years of India’s Independence, the Congress did nothing for the people of Assam. They never gave respect to the Assamese community. It was Modi who did the groundwork,” said Sonowal.
