Shillong, October 4: Sanguine about Congress’victory in the 2018 elections, Senior Congress leader and Cabinet Minister Deborah Marak said that the congress party in the state is fully ready to fight the elections in the state and is ascertain about most of the seats principally in the Garo Hills.
The minister’s remark comes a day after former home minister RG Lyngdoh went over to state that the party need to have a feasible alternative in next year’s elections.
Marak while speaking to media persons on Tuesday, said Garo hills has no better alternative and inhabitants are looking forward to Congress with high expectations. She further stated that in the last 5-6 years the Congress has done a lot for the development of the Garo Hills region.
She added that BJP leaders from New Delhi coming into the region to make tall claims before the media is not a threat to the Congress in the elections. She even declined to acknowledge that BJP is in advance ground in Meghalaya, and said that the situation of the party would be exposed only after the 2018 elections are held.
The party has already started its arrangements for the following elections as Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has been effectively working towards it besides MLAs and party workers have also been intended for working tough in order to make certain Congress’ win in the 2018 polls.
