“Congress is on AIUDF ventilation”: Smriti Irani in Assam

GUWAHATI: Coming down heavily on the opposition Congress-led grand alliance, BJP leader and union minister for textiles and women and child development Smriti Irani on Tuesday said that the Congress party was already in a coma’ state and Badruddin Ajmal’s All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) was its ‘ventilation’ system.

Irani was visiting the state on Tuesday and campaigning for BJP and its allies at Borbhag, Gauripur and Dhubri areas.

Addressing the media here she said, “Congress has lost its ground in Assam and it has been now trying to survive somehow with the help of AIUDF. Congres is on AIUDF ventilation. Their alliance is just for the sake of capturing power. How can the party which itself is dependent on other, aims to take Assam forward.”

Remembering the Congress regime in the state, Irani added, “People of Assam had trusted Congress and put it in power for 15 years. But what did the state get? But in BJP’s five years, Assam has witnessed massive infrastructure growth. It’s only the Modi government that can take Assam ahead. I appeal to the people of Assam to bless BJP so that we can serve them.”

BJP President Nadda who was addressing public rallies at Nalbari, Bilasipara on Tuesday also slammed the Congress-led alliance.

Campaigning for the second phase ended on Tuesday.
