Guwahati: Mizoram Police seized a large number of contraband drugs weighing 2.461 kg worth Rs 12 crore on Monday.
Based on a specific information, a team of CID SB of state police intercepted one truck bearing registration number MZ-01X-2184 at Tawngtaimual, Zemabawk and recovered 200 soap cases of heroin, weighing 2.461 kg.
The market value of the seized drugs is estimated at over Rs 12 crore, official stated.
The seized heroin, vehicle and handyman (claimed to be a 16-year-old juvenile from Hailakandi of Assam) of the seized vehicle were handed over to Bawngkawn police station for further investigation on forward and backward linkages and necessary legal action under ND & PS Act, said police.
May 3, over 2 kilograms of heroin was recovered by the Mizoram Police Special Branch (CID SB).
The Mizoram Police Special Branch team intercepted a truck carrying the contraband substance weighing 2.553 kg equivalent to 200 soap cases of heroin.
The seized drug is valued at over Rs 12.5 crore in the international market.
