    Coronavirus Cases Climb To 30 In India, Bhutan Confirms First Case

    The coronavirus has so far infected over 94,000 people across the world and claimed around 3,222 lives

    While a total of 30 positive Coronavirus cases have been detected in India so far, Bhutan, bordering nation of India, on March 6th, 2020, confirmed the first case in the country.

    The patient is a 76-year-old from the United States, who has a travel history to India. Prime Minister Lotay Tshering office in a statement stated that the patient had come to Bhutan on March 2nd, 2020, from Guwahati.

    He has been isolated in the COVID-19 hospital. He is kept on oxygen support considering his age and underlying conditions.

    The eight Indian passengers have also been quarantined. The government is closely working with the Indian Embassy.

    With a new case being reported in Ghaziabad on Thursday, India’s COVID number is now at 30. These include the previous three (3) cases from Kerala, who have now been discharged. In addition, there are three (3) from Delhi and NCR, (two with travel history from Italy, and one with travel history of Iran); six (6) contacts of the first Delhi Case with travel history of Italy; one (1)from Telangana with history of Dubai travel and Singapore contact; 16 Italians and one driver (Indian) who was with the Italian tourist group.

    Total of 6,49,452 passengers have been screened at the airports till date from 6550 flights.  In addition, there are 29607 persons who are under the IDSP community surveillance and contact tracing.

    Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, “The government is working intensively to ensure meaningful intervention, if needed, to deal with the impact of unfolding COVID-19 crisis in the country.”
