Coronavirus is a Hoax: Dr Satyakam Phukan

Dr Phukan said, “I do not see any reason to terrorise the people in the name of coronavirus. State's health and family welfare minister has been misled by certain forces.

Guwahati:  City’s renowned general surgeon Dr Satyakam Phukan on Sunday alleged that state’s health and family welfare minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been misled by certain forces and claimed coronavirus is a hoax, not pandemic.

Dr Phukan said, “It appears as if state’s health and family welfare minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been leading the fight against the coronavirus. But the truth is, Sarma is not a medical practitioner. He is misled and forced to do all these by certain forces.”

The surgeon asserted that the coronavirus-induced health management process is completely against the pandemic defined in medical science. “I do not see any situation to terrorise the people in order to contain the spread of the coronavirus,” he said.

Taking cognizance of the total lockdown, DR Phukan said, “I personally have not come across any patients who were infected by coronavirus. Government is engaging the police and military to terrorise the people in the name of Coronavirus. How many doctors are coming out and speaking about the pandemic? It appears as if police are treating the coronavirus.”

The surgeon also argued that compelling the masses to maintain social distance, wear face masks, identifying certain areas as containment zones and imposition of total lockdown in the name of a pandemic is nothing other than harassment to the general public.

Stressing that no documentation on coronavirus was available, Dr Phukan said, “Several doctors will soon file RTI to find documentation on coronavirus. Everything will be cleared if documentation is provided.”

He claimed, “Most of the senior doctors are aware of the fact that coronavirus is not a pandemic, rather it is a hoax. But they (doctors) are not daring enough to come out and tell the truth to the public.”

Notably, the general surgeon on June 18, also filed an FIR to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), New Delhi, urging country’s premier investigating agency to look into the matter and take steps to see that the people do not suffer in the name of a hoax.

In the FIR, Dr Phukan said, “It has come to my notice that the whole issue of the Corona /Covid19 virus has been reported to be a hoax in the international independent media and has been reportedly exposed by many in America and Europe, although the same has not been reported so in the corporate media. I, as a doctor also do not see any rationality in the kind of harassment borne by the people in the name of this so-called disease.”

He also added in the FIR that the Supreme Courts in the Wisconsin state of USA and in Pakistan has lifted the lockdown on the ground that the said disease is not a pandemic.

The surgeon also sent an appeal to the President of India apprising the same.
