COVID-19: Assam HS 1st Year Students To Be Promoted Without Exam

The students of 1,500 AHSEC-affiliated colleges and HS schools will be promoted to HS second year

Due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has decided to promote the first-year High Secondary (HS) students to the second-year without conducting examinations.

The decision of not conducting the HS examination was taken to contain the spread of COVID-19. The students of 1,500 AHSEC-affiliated colleges and HS schools will be promoted to HS second year.

The HS first year examination was scheduled from March 25th-April 10th, 2020. It was earlier deferred by the council before the 21-day nationwide lockdown was imposed on March 25th, 2020.

A total of 28 COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Assam so far. Out of 28 cases, 27 are related to the Tablighi Jamaat congregation in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area last month.
