GUWAHATI: Assam recorded 1,792 COVID-19 cases out of 28,245 tests conducted in last 24 hours on Friday with 17 more deaths recorded in the state.
Out of the new cases, 387 cases are from Kamrup (M), 169 from Jorhat, 121 Dibrugarh (121) and 105 from Cachar among others.
Informing about the deaths, health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Very sad and anguished to inform that 17 more COVID positive patients have succumbed to the disease. My condolence to all the families. We stand by you in this hour of grief.”
Meanwhile, 1,571 patients were discharged from various hospitals and covid care centers across the state on Friday.
State’s total tally stands at 1,63,491 total cases, among which 1,32,709 discharged, 30,182 active cases, 597 deaths and three migrated to other states.
The state’s positivity rate spiked to 6.34%.
