COVID-19 cases breach 1k mark in Guwahati; 6.56 positivity percent
Guwahati: The COVID-19 cases in Kamrup metro, which primarily comprises the Guwahati city, breached the 1,000 mark on Wednesday with the state recording 3,274 fresh cases.
The positivity percentage of the day stands at 6.56% while the recovery rate stands at 96.96%.
The fresh cases were detected out of 49,915 test conducted in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the state has also recorded four fatalities during the day.
The summary of the cases was shared by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma through his Twitter handle.
Earlier on Tuesday, CM Sarma hinted that the state government will take stringent measures to curb Covid-19 spread if the situation in the state deteriorates.
The chief minister, however, added that Covid-19 cases in the state are rising, but the overall situation in the state is under control and the state government has no plan to impose lockdown-like restrictions as of now.
