The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Assam have seen a drastic rise on the past one week with more than 400 cases being reported in the past eight days due to which the total cases in the state now stand at 595.
On Tuesday morning, 47 new cases of the COVID-19 were reported in the state out of with 21 alone were from Golaghat while Morigaon reported eight cases. Nagaon reported five cases, Lakhimpur reported four cases, Goalpara had three and Karbi Anglong reported two. One case was reported from Hojai while MMCH in Guwahati reported one case.
These new cases have taken the state’s toll to 595 with 526 active cases. While Assam reported four confirmed deaths related to the virus, 62 persons had also recovered while three persons migrated to their home states after being tested positive of the virus here.
Assam has also conducted more than 60 thousand tests which makes it one of the top states in terms of the COVID0-19.
Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma earlier said that Assam is trying to make arrangements to conduct 5000 tests a day and is hopeful that within the coming few days, this large scale testing will be availed in the state.
