    COVID-19 Cases Spike To 616 In Assam, 68 Cases Confirmed In A Day

    The state now has 547 active cases and four confirmed deaths

    The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Assam have reached 616 with 68 new cases being detected on Tuesday.

    On Tuesday evening 19 new cases were reported in the state with seven belonging to Karimganj, five to Goalpara, three from Guwahati and one each from Dhubri, Hailakandi, Udalguri and Lakhimpur.

    The total number of cases in the state now stands at 616 with 547 active cases and four confirmed deaths.

    On Tuesday morning, 47 new cases of the COVID-19 were reported in the state out of with 21 alone were from Golaghat while Morigaon reported eight cases. Nagaon reported five cases, Lakhimpur reported four cases, Goalpara had three and Karbi Anglong reported two. One case was reported from Hojai while MMCH in Guwahati reported one case.

    Assam has also conducted more than 60 thousand tests which makes it one of the top states in terms of the COVID0-19.

    Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma earlier said that Assam is trying to make arrangements to conduct 5000 tests a day and is hopeful that within the coming few days, this large scale testing will be availed in the state.
