COVID-19: Manipur Launches Website To Help Stranded People, To Build 200-Bed Hospital

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh launched a website to reach out to the people of the state who are stranded outside the State following the nationwide lockdown imposed due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The website -www.tengbang.in – was developed by CubeTen, a private firm, in coordination with the Information & Technology (IT) Department of Manipur for free. ‘Tengbang’ means assistance in Manipuri.

“The website is for the people of Manipur stranded in any parts of the world due to the pandemic COVID-19, and require help in terms of food, accommodation, medicines and health and travel. We would try our best to help you,” Singh said.

The website is also integrated with a payment gateway for people, whoever wishes to, to donate to the Chief Minister’s COVID-19 Relief Fund can do it online.

The Chief Minister also urged the people of the State to stay at home to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Northeast’s first positive coronavirus case was reported in Manipur. The girl patient is undergoing medical treatment at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Science in Imphal.

Singh informed that the girl’s health is improving. He also called upon the people to pray for the speedy recovery of the patient.

Several people, mostly students, are stranded in various parts of the country after Prime Minister Narendra Modi ordered the suspension of transport services – rail, air, road – for 21 days.

Manipur Chief Minister on March 30th, 2020 visited the site of the quarantine centre at Langthabal, Imphal West.

Singh informed that a pre-fabricated 200 bedded building will be constructed in the “shortest possible time” to treat coronavirus patients.
