COVID-19: Restrictions imposed under section 144 in Assam’s Sivasagar
Guwahati: The Sivasagar district administration on Tuesday has imposed restrictions across the district under the Section 144 CrPC due to the rising second wave of coronavirus.
In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Sivasagar, wearing masks, using hand sanitizers, or washing hands with soap was made mandatory by the administration.
Addressing the media, Sivasagar District Commissioner Bishnu Kamal Bora said, “Today our district has recorded 4 fresh cases and to prevent further spread of the disease we urge people to follow COVID-19 protocols especially social distancing, masks and sanitization.”
Notably, section 144 of the CrPC restricts the assembly of five or more persons at a public place, nobody is allowed to conduct rallies, campaigns, agitation, demonstration, rally, procession, Mashal procession, and shouting slogans.
The district administration has also directed all the government and private institutions to introduce thermal screening stations.
