Guwahati: As a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid 19), the district administration of Sivasagar in order has directed the Sivasagar Dol Unayan Parishad to shutdown Shiva Dol and its doors for devotees till May 15, 2021, or until further order.
The direction of the administration came just after the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) issued a notice to shut down all centrally protected Monuments, Sites and Museums with immediate effect.
Based on the order, the entrances to the historic Rang Ghar, Tolatol Ghar, Kareng Ghar and Charaideo Maidam in the Sivasagar have also come to standstill from Friday onwards.
Notably, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in its notice said, “Due to prevailing COVID situation, it has been decided to close all centrally protected monuments, sites and museums under the ASI with immediate effect and till May 15 or until further orders.”
On the other hand, the Hayagriv Madhab Temple Managing Committee in Hajo under Kamrup rural district in a notice has informed that under the direction of the Archaeological Survey of India, the committee has decided to shut down the famed temple for the devotees after the evening prayers on Friday till May 15.
It may be mentioned that India’s daily Covid-19 cases have doubled in 10 days, with a record 2 lakh new infections logged today as authorities grapple with shortages of coronavirus vaccines, treatments, and hospital beds.
Having let its guard down with mass religious festivals, political rallies and crowds at cricket matches, India is experiencing a vicious second wave, recording almost 20 lakh fresh infections this month alone.
With this, the total number of cases has gone up to 14,074,564. In the last 24 hours, 2,17,353 Covid-related fatalities were reported in the country taking the death toll to 1,73,123.
