Guwahati: The city bus owners in Guwahati have urged the state government to consider resumption of city bus service here citing a huge loss.
At least 700-odd city buses in Guwahati have been off the roads owing to the rising Covid 19 situation in the state as well as the city.
They said that the continuation of restriction in plying the city buses may threaten the livelihood of hundreds of drivers, conductors as well as owners.
“We have not been able to pay for our EMIs. Our employees have been suffering. Either allow us or pay compensation to us,” the owners of the city buses told media.
Earlier, city bus service was resumed during the nationwide Unlock phase. However, it got suspended once again after the city witnessed a sharp rise in Covid 19 cases forcing the state government to clamp a second round of complete lockdown in the city.
They said that they were ready to follow all the Covid 19 guidelines while plying the buses. They also sought a financial package from the government.
