    COVID-19 Scare: Section 144 clamped in Assam’s Lakhimpur district

    Assam’s COVID tally surged to 2,19,553 till Friday as 281 more people tested positive for the infection

    Guwahati: To restrict the spread of Coronavirus, the Lakhimpur district administration on Saturday has imposed restrictions under Section 144 of the CrPC across the district.

    In an order, Lakhimpur district deputy commissioner has made compulsory to wear face masks by all individuals in public places, to practice social distancing of at least two meters and to frequently use sanitisers, to avoid spitting in public places etc.

    Earlier, Section 144 was clamped in districts like Jorhat, Sivasagar, Haildakandi and some parts of Biswanath.

    Assam’s COVID tally surged to 2,19,553 till Friday as 281 more people tested positive for the infection. Moreover, three new fatalities have pushed the death toll to 1,115.

    The state currently has 1,236 active cases while, 2,15,828 people have recovered from the disease.

    Meanwhile, a total of 12,14,820 people have so far received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine across the state and 2,38,490 people have got the second dose.
