COVID-19 situation remains grim in Assam’s Kamrup Metro district

Covid19: India's Active Caseload Lowest in 523 Days

Guwahati: The capital city of Guwahati continues to be in grip of Covid pandemic with 25 percent cases of entire state being registered here. At least 624 fresh cases along with 27 fatalities have been recorded in Kamrup metro district in the last 24 hours.

Ever since the election came to an end in Assam, the state along with the Kamrup Metro district has been witnessing a constant surge in coronavirus cases.

A massive spike in the cases along with deaths was reported on May 11. Almost 1,585 COVID-19 positive cases were reported and 35 people succumbed to the infection in Kamrup Metro.

The state government has taken several steps to curb the spread of COVID-19 cases. From clamping strict curfew to barring the inter-district movement and ensuring oxygen supply, the state government is leaving no stones unturned to keep the people safe in Assam.

It is also to be mentioned here that, currently the Guwahati city in the Kamrup metro district has four covid care centres. Moreover, the Northeast Frontier Railway has also converted passenger coaches into Covid care isolation wards. They have equipped the existing six railway hospitals with oxygen plants.

Meanwhile, Assam has reported 92 more Covid deaths and 5,767 fresh cases in the last 24 hours. The overall positivity rate of the state stood at 5.04% and recovery rate stood at 84.84%.

However in India, the COVID-19 cases have decreased since its last peak on May 10, 2021. A net decline of 1,33,934 is witnessed in the last 24 hours in the state.

India’s cumulative recoveries have reached 2,40,54,861 on Tuesday.
