Covid 19:Nalbari Adm Makes Wearing Mask Compulsory; Bans Spiting
GUWAHATI: Following the spike in Covid19 positive cases across the country and the rising trend of Covid19 positive cases in the state, the Nalbari district administration made wearing mask in public places compulsory from Monday.
The district administration has also banned spiting in public places from now onwards.
In an order issued by the Nalbari district administration, it was directed that people should avoid public gatherings as a precautionary measure to stop spreading the contagious coronavirus.
“Considering the gravity of the situation, this order has been passed ex-parte and will be enforceable with immediate effect and will remain in operation until further order,” the order said.
The order came at a time when political parties of the state have been doing poll rallies across the state where thousands of people were seen gathering. Tossing the social distancing norms, many were even seen without masks. Nalbari would go to poll on Aril 6 and the poll campaigns in the district were ongoing.
Assam recorded at least 48 new Covid 19 positive cases on Sunday, the highest within last week. The state so far has some 453 active cases of Covid 19. On Sunday, while Tinsukia recorded 20 fresh cases, Guwahati city registered 15 new cases. So far, 1104 people have died of Covid 19 in Assam. However, a few days back, the state’s health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that there was nothing to worry about as most of the cases were detected in persons coming from outside the state. He said that there would be no lockdown in the near future and the people of Assam would be allowed to enjoy the Bihu festivities slated mid April.
