Guwahati: The city’s Bank of Baroda branch of Bhangagarh, has been declared as a containment zone on Monday.
The Kamrup (metro) district administration in an order said that following the detection of a COVID positive patient in the bank campus, for public hygiene and to stop further spread of COVID 19 virus in the area, the area was declared as containment zone until further order.
The Dispur circle officer has been asked to seal the bank campus immediately.
Guwahati has been currently undergoing its Unlock 1.0 phase with relaxation to open shops on condition and e-commerce services along with government and private office.
The city has witnessed a surge in COVID cases recently forcing the state government to bring the city under lockdown for three weeks earlier.
Meanwhile, two more COVID care centres are under construction in Guwahati. One is at Nehru Stadium and the other has been constructed at SrimantaShankardevaKalashetra.
