COVID Scare: Educational TV channel launched in Tripura
Agartala: Chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb and education minister Ratanlal Nath on Monday launched a full-time dedicated educational Television channel “Vande Tripura”, for conducting classes continuously for the students of Tripura.
It will be a 24×7 channel dedicated to broadcasting classes for schools and higher educational institutions and also educational programs. Initially recorded classes will be broadcasted and then will start broadcasting online classes.
While launching the channel at Civil Secretariat here in Agartala, CM Deb said “Education is a sensitive sector where 24 new reforms were taken to upgrade the student’s education which was appreciated by the ministry of education”.
“The erstwhile Left Front government has been in power for a long time, but could not convert government schools from TBSE to CBSE. But while criticizing, the previous Leftist leaders keep on maligning the present Education department”, said Deb.
He said that he was hopeful that this newly launched educational TV channel would help the students of Tripura by sitting at home during this second wave of the COVID pandemic.
Education minister Ratanlal Nath said, “The educational sector in Tripura incurred loss for 14 months as schools were closed, Hence, there has been a loss of 36%. Although we have introduced various reforms, 40% of students don’t have smartphones. Hence, the education department started an educational channel.”
The education minister further added, “From June month, the live class will start along with discussion and education-related news, etc. will be broadcasted and 90% areas across Tripura will be covered.”
The chief minister and education minister was accompanied by the chief secretary Manoj Kumar and education secretary Saumya Gupta, directors of school education and elementary education departments Saju Vaheed and UK Chakma.
