    COVID Scare: Guwahati Police bars Pol Parties from taking out victory rally on May 2

    Use of loudspeakers and any public gathering outside the counting centre during the process of counting were also prohibited

    GUWAHATI: The city police have banned any victory procession by any political party or assembly at any public place during and after the poll counting on May 2.

    In an order issued on Friday, the Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, said that not more than two persons shall be allowed to accompany the winning candidate or his or her authorised representative to receive the certificate of election from the returning officer after the results are out.

    The order added, “Sale, purchase and bursting of firecrackers in the area under Police Commissionerate, Guwahati, is prohibited. Assembly of five or more person at any public place within the Police Commissionerate, Guwahati is prohibited.”

    Use of loudspeakers and any public gathering outside the counting centre during the process of counting were also prohibited.

    The city police have warned that any violation would be dealt with legal action.

    This order shall come into force with immediate effect, it said.
