Guwahati: As the active COVID positive cases crossed the 300 mark in Lakhimpur district, the higher education department authorized Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority for closure of all Educational institutions (Both Government and Non-Government) from pre-primary section to University level along with hostels and coaching institutions for a period of 15 days.
As per the notification, all educational institutions (Both Government and Non-Government) from pre-primary section to University level along with hostels and coaching institutions/tuition centres etc shall remain close till May 14, 2021.
The authorities of the educational institutes shall have to make all necessary arrangements for online classes for the students as part of the continuous learning process, the notification stated further.
The order comes into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force until further orders.
It is to be noted that violation to the order shall invite action under provisions of section 51(b) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 besides legal action under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
