Criminal thrashed to death by mob in Assam’s Dhakuakhana

Guwahati: Gerejai, one of the criminal who recently fled from police custody in Dhakuakhana, Assam’s Lakhimpur district was beaten to death by a mob on Thursday.

The Gerejai also known as Raju Baruah had escaped from the Judicial Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

According to the sources, enraged locals caught the criminal and thrashed him.

Later, Gerejai was handed over to the police in a very critical state.

The doctors, however, declared him dead at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the two other criminals identified as Jatin Tamuli and Sunti Das are currently on the run.

As per sources, this is the second time in less than a year that Gerejai has escaped from the police.

The deceased was accused of committing various crimes including rape and murder.

Earlier, he also escaped from a hospital in Lakhimpur even though he had a bullet wound on his leg.
