Agartala, May 4, 2019

Along with the coastal state of Odisha, Tripura too bore the brunt of the impending cyclonic storm Fani as heavy rainfall coupled with wind lashed the state leading to uprooting of trees on May 4th, 2019.

Traffic movement came to a standstill after several trees were uprooted due to the heavy downpour. Meanwhile, efforts are on to clear the roads for smooth communication.

Earlier the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted that the cyclonic storm will have its impact on all the Northeastern states leading to heavy to very heavy rainfall on May 4th and May 5th, 2019.

The rainfall activities would be accompanied by a strong wind with the wind speed varying between 30 and 40 kmph and it will persist for quite some time.
