    Darjeeling toy trains to welcome passengers from Christmas

    Three daily services of the Joy Ride train will run between Darjeeling to Ghum and back to Darjeeling.

    Guwahati: Days ahead of Christmas, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) on Wednesday will resume ‘Toy Train Joy Ride’ services of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR) between Darjeeling to Ghoom station from Thursday.

    The ride was suspended due to COVID-19 pandemic in last week of March this year, stated NFR.

    Three daily services of the Joy Ride train will run between Darjeeling to Ghum and back to Darjeeling with stoppage of passengers at Batasia loop for 10 minutes to visit batasia Eco Garden and Gorkha War Memorial and 20 minutes stoppage at Ghum to visit Ghum Museum.

    Resumption of services over the full 88-km length of the DHR between Darjeeling and New Jalpaiguri stations in the plains a Silliguri will be considered after necessary permission is accorded by the state government.

    With the resumption of services of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, local economic activities will get a much-needed boost due to arrival of tourists. Depending on the requirement of the tourists, more such services will be restored.
