Intense speculation made the rounds about the Jaish-e-Mohammed founder Masood Azhar’s whereabouts following a media report of his death that went viral on the social networking sites on March 3rd, 2019. However, the information has not been officially confirmed.
According to information, Azhar was undergoing dialysis in an Army hospital in Islamabad in Pakistan for liver cancer.
It may be mentioned that under the leadership of Azhar JeM attacked the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy at Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir on February 14th, 2019 which left at least 44 jawans including one from Assam martyred.
Following the deadly terror attack, which perhaps shaken the international community, Indian Air Force on February 26th, 2019 launched surgical strike crossing the border and destroyed JeM camps. Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, who crossed the LOC, was captured by Pakistani Army in the Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
