New Delhi: Actor-activist Deep Sidhu, accused of the violence at the Red Fort complex in Delhi on Republic Day during a farmers’ tractor rally gas been arrested on Tuesday.
A cash reward of Rs one lakh was fixed for leads on Sindhu and three other accused’s arrest.
Police said he was caught in Haryana’s Karnal, about 100 km from Delhi.
It was suspected that he was evading arrest and changing his locations.
He was the prime accused of triggering nuisance when a tractor rally by farmers protesting the centre’s three agricultural laws went rogue on Republic Day. Protesters defied police barricades forcing their way into the Red Fort.
A few of them had even climbed up the historic ramparts and placing a Sikh religious flag. The violence was condemned from all corners.
Recently, he had uploaded some Facebook videos with the help of a friend in California in which he tried to defend himself and his actions.
Even the farmer’s group has criticized his role and accused him of derailing their peaceful protest.
Delhi Police have filed 44 cases and arrested 122 people earlier.
