Durga Puja celebrations have already started in Assam and everyone is gearing up to make the most of this auspicious festival. Puja pandals across the state have come up with unique ideas to attract revellers and one such pandal is the Dima Hasao Police Reserve’s pandal.

The deities in the puja pandal are draped in beautiful traditional Dimasa attires highlighting the rich handloom of the tribe and it is a sight to behold. The Dima Hasao Police also tweeted the eye-catching photographs of the idols which aptly signifies that India is a mosaic of cultures.

Speaking to Time8, Superintendent of Dima Hasao Police, Sreejith T said, “It was a unanimous decision of the staff members here to drape the idols in the traditional attire of the Dimasa tribe. We came up with this idea a month back and accordingly, worked on it.”

“We thought of organising a puja which will showcase the culture of the local people here. Also, the drapes were weaved by local weavers in a months time and we are happy with the outcome,” added Sreejith.

Lastly, he wished that this Durga Puja brings peace and harmony in the state.
