Assam Passenger Carrying Over Rs 10 Lakh Cash Intercepted At Delhi Airport

Guwahati, March 21, 2019:

The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) deployed at the Indira Gandhi International(IGI) Airport on Wednesday intercepted a passenger from Assam with Rs 10.50 lakh in cash at Terminal 1 of the Airport.

As per initial reports, the passenger was coming from Silchar town in Assam.

It may be mentioned that as per the Model Code of Conduct, which is in force in view of the ensuing Lok Sabha polls, no one can carry more than Rs 10 lakh in cash or bullion weighing 1 kg or more.

If a person carries cash more than Rs 10 lakh, they have to inform the income tax department about the same. and produce the necessary documents. A nodal officer has been appointed to monitor transactions of more than Rs 10 lakh.
