Guwahati: Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Delhi Chief Minister, is likely to visit Assam on May 29.
The Delhi Chief Minister will visit the state with the goal of increasing the party’s base in the state by attracting 10 lakh new members.
According to the sources, Bhaben Choudhury, Assam State Coordinator of the AAP stated that the party’s state unit has recommended a date for party president Arvind Kejriwal to visit Guwahati on May 29.
We have submitted the date to the Delhi Chief Minister but due to the weather, we have yet to received confirmation, Choudhury said.
Kejriwal will participate in a roadshow in Guwahati, which would require good weather and if all goes well, he will join us on May 29, he stated.
Meanwhile, the party has solidified its presence in the state by winning a ward in the recently completed Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) elections. On May 2, Raijor Dal Vice President Kamal Kumar Medhi, along with five other members of the regional party, jumped ship and joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Along with Kamal Kumar Medhi, some congress leaders also joined AAP.
