Dhemaji Police Announce Reward For Catching Quarantine Violators

The police personnel, risking their lives, are on the frontline of the battle against the highly contagious coronavirus

Dhemaji police have announced a reward for policemen who can catch any person violating novel coronavirus (COVID-19) home quarantine protocols in the district.

Dhemaji Police has roped in local NGOs to monitor and track the people on home quarantine.

This initiative has been taken after many, who had come from other parts of the country and abroad amid the COVID-19 outbreak, were reportedly found violating the 14-day mandatory home quarantine rules.

The reward for any police officer in Dhemaji who detects a violator with a stand on his/her left-hand includes a cash prize and departmental perks.

The police personnel, risking their lives, are on the frontline of the battle against the highly contagious coronavirus.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma have repeatedly urged the citizens to follow the quarantine and lockdown rules. The Assam government also directed the police to take strong action against violators.

Till 8 pm March 28th, 2020, the Assam police had registered 160 cases and arrested 315 people for violation lockdown rules. However, 302 persons have been released on bail and 13 have been forwarded to judicial custody.

Streets across the state wore a deserted look as India entered the fifth day of nationwide lockdown to combat coronavirus spread in the country on March 29th, 2020.

In order to restrict the movement of people, police are strictly checking vehicles and asking commuters to produce identification proof in cases where travelling is essential.
