Dibrugarh ragging case: Prime accused Rahul Chetry expelled from JB Law College

Guwahati: The prime accused in the Dibrugarh University ragging incident, Rahul Chetry has been expelled from J.B. Law College in Guwahati with immediate effect on Saturday.

The decision comes after the governing body meeting held at the law college.

The ex-student – a former general secretary of the Dibrugarh University students’ union, Rahul Chetry, was an LLB third-semester student.

As per the official, Rahul Chetry went to Dibrugarh University and is alleged to be involved in the heinous activities of ragging junior students causing both physical and mental grevious hurt.

The official further added that Chetry is already declared an absconder by the administration and till now he has not issued any paper or other type of statement defending himself.

However, Rahul continued to evade police arrest six days after the unfortunate incident came to light.

Meanwhile, one more prime accused in the Dibrugarh University ragging case surrendered before the police on Saturday morning. The accused has been identified as Kalyan Dutta.
