‘Didi’-the Dealer: How Assam Police net NE’s veteran drug dealer, All details here
GUWAHATI: A 50-year-old woman drug dealer Th Paone, popularly known as ‘Didi’, from Manipur’s Senapati district was apprehended in Karbi Anglong by Assam Police on Thursday. Over 2 kilos of pure heroin worth Rs 7 crore was also seized from her possession.
She was believed to be a prime source of a huge quantity of drugs to Nagaon, Marigaon, and Guwahati.
Another person namely Kevin Movi from Nagaland’s Dimapur was also been apprehended in the police operation.

As per state police director-general, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, a big supply chain network with a solid narco-terror angle was busted. “Two big network players already netted,” said the police chief.
Police sources said that an operation was laid to trap Didi and her accomplishment following the investigation of a previous seizure of 723 grams of heroin at Barpather in Golaghat district.
“The accused during the interrogation revealed that a lady known as ‘Didi’ residing in Dimapur was the main dealer who supplied the heroin. However, no contact information was revealed by them. Then police engaged sources to go Dimapur to find out who is Didi,” said police sources.
A set up was laid to purchase high quality drugs from her.
“After long persuasion, she agreed to supply the contraband on Thursday. She was apprehended while coming to deliver the heroin at Janakpukhuri under Khatkhati police station along with 164 packets of fine quality heroin weighing 2.125 kilos. They brought the drugs in a car,” sources added.
Assam Police have launched a crackdown on drugs recently after chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma ordered to ‘clean’ the state from drug rackets.
