    District Admin declares two ‘Containment Zones’ in Biswanath

    Guwahati: With the detection of two COVID-19 positive patients in Biswanath district, the administration declared two areas as ‘Containment zones’ from 5 pm onwards on Friday.

    The persons identified as Narayan Baruah and Kamal Chetry were tested positive for COVID-19, hence to prevent the further spread of the infection the administration had barred the entry and exit into the notified Containment Zones with immediate effect.

    Out of the two COVID-19 patients, Narayan Baruah serves the Assam police as (sub-inspector) at Behali police station.

    Following which the quarter of Biman Gogoi and quarter of officer in charge of Behali PS which falls within the range of Narayan Baruah’s quarter also comes under the ‘Containment Zone’.

    On the other hand, the residence of Kamal Chetry of Kuhiarbari in Behali was also declared as ‘Containment Zone’.

    The boundary shared by the House of one Dambaru Bahadur Chetry and the House of Judha Bahadur Chetry was also declared as ‘Containment Zone’ by the concern department.

    Shockingly, there are reports of two more police officials being tested positive for COVID-19 in Biswanath district, however, the administration didn’t issue any official statement in this regard.

    As per sources, both the officials were on election duty in Karimganj district for the second phase and Bongaigaon district for the third phase of elections and had returned back to Biswanath this morning.

    Meanwhile, section 144 CrPC has been imposed in Majuli district likewise Jorhat, Sivasagar, Biswanath, Dhubri districts.
