    District level task force committee moots steps to stop child begging at Kamakhya

    The committee also urged the Kamakhya Temple Doloi (priest) committee to keep vigil on the children and make sure no child begs inside the premises.

    Guwahati: To stop practices such as begging’s and child labour in and around Kamakhya Temple premises, the district level task force committee on Thursday held a meeting and discussed about making arrangements for their proper education.

    The committee also urged the Kamakhya Temple Doloi (priest) committee to keep vigil on the children and make sure no child begs inside the premises.

    The task force also suggested a slew of measures to be taken up for giving the poor and underprivileged children a better childhood.

    Earlier in February, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has also recommended creation of suitable facility for housing such children and making proper for their education.

    The apex body suggested assigning a Child Welfare Police Officer under Kamakhya Outpost, enrolling the street children in schools, and taking of action against those parents who force their children into begging.
