Doctor Abused By BJP MLA In Cachar, Probe Ordered

A heated argument took place between the doctor, MLA and the security guards over the treatment of a newborn kid at the hospital

Cachar district administration has ordered a probe into the alleged incident of abuse and harassment of a government doctor while on duty by a ruling Bharatiya Janata Party legislator.

Barkhola’s BJP MLA Kishore Nath has been accused of manhandling and humiliating a government doctor, Sujit Singh.

The doctor has filed an FIR against the MLA, his bodyguards and associates earlier this week at the Barkhola police station.

Condemning the incident the Assam unit of Indian Medical Association has also submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal demanding action against Nath for allegedly abusing doctor Sujit Singh.

The probe would be carried out by the in-charge of Barkhola primary health centre M Singh, National Health Mission told media.

A heated argument took place between the doctor, MLA and the security guards over the treatment of a newborn kid at the hospital.

The doctor alleged that the MLA scolded, abused and humiliated him. However, Nath denied the allegations.

The Assam unit of Indian Medical Association has also submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal demanding stern action against MLA Nath for allegedly abusing the doctor.
