Guwahati: A ring ceremony turned into tragedy in oil town Duliajan on Sunday after a man allegedly attacked his family members with a bow and arrow in the evening hours.

One person died on the spot, while four more people sustained serious injuries in the clash.

The sensational murder took place at Chapatoli No. 3 of Bhadoi Panchali in Duliajan.

According to reports, one Birsa Induwar would often beat his family members over a family conflict.

On Sunday, after the ring ceremony of the niece at a church, Birsa reportedly attacked four members of his family with bows and arrows, following which the family allegedly killed him with a sharp weapon in self-defence.

The members of the family who were injured have been identified as Johan Induwar, Loren Induwar, Martha Induwar and Punam Induwar has been immediately shifted to Duliajan’s OIL Hospital.

Meanwhile, on receiving the information about the clash, a police team from Duliajan police station and Bhadoi Panchali police outpost reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.
