Guwahati: An earthquake measuring 3.7 magnitude on the Richter Scale jolted Assam on Monday at 6:13 pm, as per the National Centre of Seismology.
According to the seismology center, the origin of the earthquake is Tezpur, Assam. It was centered 41 km WSW of Tezpur and depth was 10 km.
On the other hand, mild tremors have been felt in the state on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.
A tremor of 2.6 magnitude was felt at around 11:02 pm on Sunday, originating at Sonipur. Another jolt of 2.8 magnitude occurred at around 12:26 am on Monday, centered at Udalguri.
One more quake was recorded at the seismology centre of 2.7 magnitude at 1:23 am which was centered at Morigaon.
Earlier, a powerful earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richer Scale jolted Assam and other parts of the Northeast on April 28. Moreover, seven aftershocks were also recorded in the hours after the first quake shook up the region.
