EC sacks Returning officer from duty ahead of Tripura polls

Agartala, February 10: After receiving a series of complaints from BJP against the Returning Officer (RO) of West Tripura Tamal Majumder who is also the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) was removed from the charge by the Election Commission through a notification issued on Saturday.

Since his appointment as RO, BJP has been filing several complaints against him mentioning that he is acting in a highly partisan manner which is not acceptable in the process of general assembly election.

After enquiring the allegations, the election commission removed him from the responsibility of the Returning Officer.

It may be mentioned that a copy of the notification was also sent to the State Administration including the Chief Electoral Officer.
