ECI removed over 1lakh Banners & Posters of Pol Parties in Assam
GUWAHATI: In view of forthcoming Assam assembly elections over at least 1.34 lakh defacements were carried out on the first two days after the announcement of the election schedule by the election commission of India (ECI).
With the model code of conduct coming into force removing of banners, hoardings and whitewashing activities were carried out by teams engaged by the district administration.
Out of them, there were some 50,927 numbers of banners and hoardings, some 73, 4069 numbers of posters were removed. Similarly, at least 10,085 numbers of whitewashing activities were ensured.
On Monday, the chief election officer (CEO), Assam also held an interaction with the representatives of all the recognized political parties on the new expenditure monitoring measures during the ongoing assembly election process at Assam administrative staff college.
Besides, the CEO will also interact with the journalists of all media houses at the state level to explain the provision of Section 127 –A of RP Act, 1951 and the instructions of ECI on advertisements and paid news, for the forthcoming polls at the same venue.
