Guwahati: The Election Commission of India (ECI) will celebrate 11th National Voters Day on January 25, 2021.
Themed as ‘Making our Voters Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and Informed’, the national function will be organized at Delhi. President Ram Nath Kovind shall grace the occasion as the chief guest and will also preside over virtually from Rashtrapati Bhawan.
The theme focuses on ECI’s commitment towards conducting elections safely during the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the event, the President will confer the national awards for the year 2020-2021 and launch ECI’s Web Radio – ‘Hello Voters’.
The national awards for the best electoral practices will be conferred on state and district level officers for their outstanding performances in the conduct of elections in different spheres such as IT initiatives, Security Management, Election Management during COVID-19, Accessible Election and contribution in the field of voter awareness and outreach.
The online digital radio services will stream voters awareness programs, It will be accesible through a link on ECI website.
Meanwhile, Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad will launch e-EPIC programme and distribute e-EPIC’s and Elector Photo Identity Cards for five new voters.
The minister will also launch three publications of the Election Commission during the event.
The national Voters Day has been celebrated on January 25 every year since 2011, all across the country to mark the foundation day of Election Commission of India.
