    Eight arrested in Guwahati for Lockdown Violations

    At least 377 vehicles were detained since June 30 by the Guwahati Police

    Guwahati: The Guwahati Police on Sunday arrested eight persons for allegedly violating the ongoing lockdown in the Kamrup Metro district.

    Police sources said that the police apart from arresting these eight persons have registered one case and realized a fine of Rs 7,500 on persons for not wearing masks.

    Since June 30 till Sunday, July 5, the police have arrested 108 persons, registered 31 cases and realized fines worth Rs 54,000 on persons for not wearing masks.

    Along with this,  the Assam Police as a whole have detained 34,933 vehicles for violating COVID-19 norms since May 25 to July 4. The total number of persons arrested till July 5 remain at 4,742 while fines related to lockdown and norms violation were Rs 4,54,64,350 (4.54 crore).
