Bhutia has entered into the fray from two assembly seats including Gangtok, reserved seat for the indigenous Bhutia-Lepcha communities. He is contesting from Gangtok and Tumen Lingi seats.
It may be mentioned that the former footballer has put two of his favourite jerseys on auction, on Sunday, to raise funds for his HSP, fighting the elections for the first time.
It may be mentioned that earlier he had joined the Trinamool Congress and contested the 2014 Lok Sabha election from Darjeeling and the 2016 assembly election from Siliguri, in West Bengal but he lost both times.
